Before 2023 ends, Nanyang — a Singaporean favorite — opened its newest branch at Greenhills Mall in San Juan City.

Nanyang, a famous kopitiam (coffee shop), serves Peranakan favorites like Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Curry Chicken Rice, and a variety of tasty soups, kopi (coffee), teh (tea). It also offers light and refreshing desserts with tropical flavors like mango and pomelo.

Among these selections, Nanyang is famous for their Kaya Toast (slices of buttered toasted bread topped with kaya, a fragrant and creamy coconut spread). The toast makes for a traditional and hearty breakfast when paired with perfect soft boiled eggs and kopi or teh, but it also hits the spot when you need a quick and yummy snack.

Another must-try at Nanyang is their Teh Tarik (pulled tea), which is their spin on milk tea. It is made using the traditional tarik method of “pulling” the tea, which means pouring the tea between two containers at increasing heights. The drink is aerated and a delicious froth is formed, turning it into a unique tea experience. Watching tea pulling is also an IG-worthy delight.

Nanyang food is comfort fare — simple, uncomplicated, and familiar to the Asian palate. It is reasonably priced so you can have it every day, which is just some of the reasons why the brand has attracted a loyal following in the Philippines.

Visit the new Nanyang branch at the Lower Ground Floor of Greenhills Mall, Ortigas Avenue, San Juan City.
