New Offers from White Flower Tea House

One of my favorite stalls at The Grid Food Market is White Flower Tea House.

Led by Chinoy food purveyor Decker Gokioco, White Flower Tea House recently amped up their menu — just like any good Chinese restaurant with a gazillion options to choose from. Today, they sent these new items for me to try and it’s definitely the pick-me-up my spirit needed.

Mapo Tofu Dip

The Mapo Tofu Dip is tasty and subtle. Not too spicy, so you can still enjoy the braised ground pork and silken tofu conveniently delivered to you mouth with a crispy wonton chip (still crisp after a couple of hours!). Tex-Mex has nachos, Chinoys have this. I christen it “Nachinoy”.

Prawn Toast

The Prawn Toast (available in 3’s or 6’s) is a no-fail snack or meal, depending on your appetite. They didn’t skimp on the shrimp (hey, that rhymes!) and it goes sooo well with the sweet-and-sour sauce on the side. Might be better eaten right away so the baguette is still crisp, but the flavors are still on point.

Egg Floss Shrimp

And lastly, the Singaporean-inspired Egg Floss Shrimp are basically tiny umami bombs exploding in your mouth. They deep-fried some battered shrimp and tossed it with curry leaves, sliced chili, and fluffy egg floss. It’s so good eaten on its own, but I won’t judge you if you eat it with some yang chow or dry noodles.

There are so many new things to try at White Flower Tea House! When I visit, I’ll definitely try the new Malaysian-Style Wanton Mee (because I’m a sucker for sweet soy sauce noods) and their new Braised Beef Crispy Noodles.

Sate Mi

My old time favorites from this Chinoy spot are Chef Decker's Sate Mi (noodles in a delectable umami-rich sauce with pieces of chicken and veggies), Char Siu Pork over a bed of dry noodles, Braised Beef (a generous serving of super tender beef chunks and snap peas in a delicious sauce full of sweet-savory goodness served over steamed rice), and the Shrimp Popsicle with Sweet & Sour Sauce (it’s a popsicle made of shrimp! It’s so fun to eat and absolutely delicious. I could probably eat three popsicles hahaha and the sauce is not too sweet, perfect balance of sweet and sour to compliment the shrimp).

These new items and so much more are now available at White Flower Tea House (Stall 9, The Grid Food Market, R2 Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City) and via delivery at www.thegridfoodmarket.com.
