Dine back in time at this restored ancestral home in San Juan City serving superb Filipino dishes and more.

Since 2013, Guevarra’s has been serving their own take on Filipino cuisine and international favorites — earning a loyal following in the past decade. As the restaurant celebrates its 10th anniversary this March, the hardworking men and women behind this beloved San Juan staple are getting ready for more years of bringing the best dining experience at an incredibly affordable price.

Aside from their mouth-watering spread curated by celebrity chef couple Roland ‘Lau’ and Jac Laudico, Guevarra’s made a name for itself by being one of the most affordable buffet restaurants in the metro. For only PHP759 per person, diners can enjoy more than 50 dishes and desserts to their own fill.

Keeping their prices affordable has always been one of Guevarra’s top priorities, but how exactly are they keeping their buffet so accessible to everyone?

The management and culinary team of Guevarra’s are always on the lookout for the best possible ingredients at the best possible price, making sure they keep operational costs at a minimum while also maximizing productivity. This means diminishing food waste by making sure every ingredient is responsibly and mindfully utilized. But for them, cutting down on costs never meant compromising the quality of their mouthwatering offers.

Beef Caldereta

Apart from Guevarra's roster of mainstays like their Beef Kaldereta, sweet and savory Angus Beef Tapa, classic Kare-Kare, Angus Roast Beef, their best-selling Bellychon, and traditional Palabok, the culinary team also introduces seasonal dishes and new offers to keep things exciting. This also gives the culinary team the opportunity to make use of seasonally affordable ingredients that are usually available at a lower cost.

“The dishes at Guevarra’s are all made from scratch using the freshest natural ingredients — no msg or artificial flavorings,” Chef Lau points out. “Our renditions of Filipino favorites like Kare-Kare, Angus Beef Tapa, Suman Panna Cotta Rice Cake, and 80 plus other delectable dishes keeps guests coming back again and again for 10 years.”

Bellychon

“Our buffet features modern and traditional Filipino dishes, which we cook the slow food way with no instant stock powders, so as to highlight the natural taste and flavor profile of our cuisine,” Chef Jac adds. “We also make our own breads and pastries in-house and even make our own kakanin — all made fresh daily in our kitchen.”

Aside from the wide array of delicious dishes and the charm of dining at an ancestral home, Guevarra's takes pride in their signature style of service.

“It's the value-for-money buffet plus the friendly and attentive service that will make your dining experience truly unforgettable,” Chef Jac explains.

Brigadeiros

Guevarra's has always prided itself in providing bang-for-the-buck comfort food and a pleasant dining experience for everyone without charging an arm and a leg. This stems from the belief that a great meal need not be expensive. Despite its affordability, dining at Guevarra’s always feels like a fiesta. The overall experience has always been one of their priorities since day one.

“The uniqueness of Guevarra’s lies in the overall experience. It’s really like going to your Mom or Lola’s house to celebrate special occasions,” shares Chef Jac.

And speaking of special occasions, Gueverra’s has private function rooms that can accommodate small groups of 18 to 50 persons. The spacious garden at the front of the mansion makes it the ideal venue for reunions, birthdays, baptisms, weddings, and even corporate events.

Spaghetti Marinara with Meatballs

While Guevarra’s has rooted its purpose in the timelessness of Filipino cuisine and heritage, they also make sure to keep up with the changing times. In 2020, Guevarra’s started offering their signature items for delivery, which also helped the restaurant stay afloat during the lockdown. They even started offering Solo Meals to cater to those who were living alone at the height of the pandemic.

In 2022, they officially launched their own website (www.guevarras.com) to handle online orders and deliveries. This year, Guevarra’s plans to offer a premium line of take-out products that are not in the buffet menu. They are also currently developing a retail line featuring house-made products like vinegar, bagoong (shrimp paste), atchara (pickled papaya), and lechon sauce. Diners can also look forward to great deals and promotions to celebrate the restaurant’s 10th anniversary very soon.

All in all, dining at Guevarra’s gives you more than good food every time. It’s about having a one-of-a-kind experience at a more accessible price point.

Chef Lau says, “If you're a foodie and if you love Filipino cuisine, then there's no better place to go and bring your loved ones and friends to experience not just the chefs’ creations, but to appreciate the architecture of this hundred-year-old heritage house in all of its original glory. It will transport you back in time.”
